About this experience
Singer/songwriter Danny Walsh from Melbourne's vintage rock’n’roll band Danny Walsh Banned has taken his unique folk-blues tunes around the world, from the pubs of Ireland and Demark, to the Edinburgh Fringe and Clarksdale (Mississippi) Festivals as well as a sold-out rooftop show in Berlin.
The Banned’s third album, 'In the Wimmera' was listed in Rhythms Magazine’s top 10 albums of 2020, following extensive airplay (Double J, 3RRR, 3PBS and ABC Wimmera) and 4 star reviews:
'Walsh’s lyrics depict each landscape and emotional swirl with the caress of a bonafide bush poet … Country-folk, some retro rock’n’roll and Hill Country-style blues take the listener on a journey, looking back and yearning ahead.' – Forte Magazine.
He’ll be accompanied by fiddle player extraordinaire Kat Mear (Cash Savage and the Last Drinks) and members of the Banned to perform songs from 'In the Wimmera' and more.
Kat Mear first fell in love with Old Time music when she travelled through the Appalachian Mountains as a twenty year old. Since she played her first old time fiddle tune in Clifftop West Virginia, she hasn’t been able to quit it. At POME she will be joined by good friend Tom Brooks and together they will send you into an Old Time trance.
