Katankin is the solo moniker of singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer Helen Catanchin. Formally trained as a jazz singer, Katankin was born from the artist’s desire to return to her singer-songwriter roots, and integrate pop and electronic elements into her works. Katankin is the phonetic spelling of her Russian surname (allowing its correct pronunciation for the first time in the singer’s life), and further symbolises this return to one’s roots, to one’s true self. Helen’s uniquely warm tone – simultaneously earthy and incredibly pure – and a true bard’s ability to deftly expose the beating heart of every song, along with her poetic and poignant songwriting style, all put their unmistakable stamp on Katankin’s songs.
Along with freshly shucked Sydney Rock oysters on the half shell with Yarra Valley caviar, the POME Menu features Pacific Oysters BBQ'd in their shell. Once they pop open they are smothered with a zesty garlic butter sauce, Abalone sauce, or our famous oyster Mornay brushed over your warm oyster. We can’t lie: You’re going to come back again and again.
