Through The Curtains aims to showcase multiple performance art disciplines with a focus on sensual and erotic art delivered through burlesque, dance and cultural art forms, by artists of all genders and identifications.
Each evening will feature an intimate musical performance followed by music and dance intertwined. Adam Rudegeair & The Magnificence Trio will provide the backing track for two performing artists.

The performers:
Direct from Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, Dany Maia brings the authentic sounds of Brazilian music to Australian audiences. A reflection of the cultural melting pot in which Dany was born and raised, her music merges the classic bossa nova, jazz and samba tunes. A multi-talented performer with an irrepressible stage presence, Dany Maia embodies the true spirit of Brazil.
The Magnificence Trio is lead by Adam Rudegeair of PBS 106.7FM. Adam is a prolific composer, performer and educator based in Melbourne. His music is rooted in jazz and funk, with significant influences from the sounds of New Orleans, Minneapolis and avant-garde groove musicians such as Sun Ra and Medeski Martin & Wood. Adam's current projects include Lake Minnetonka, The Bowie Project and the ongoing collaboration with jazz legend Bob Sedergreen ‘Bourbon Street to Brunswick Street’. He enjoys performing tunes by his favourite jazz composer Thelonious Monk, as well as film and TV music, and songs by Prince and Bowie.
Adam’s discography includes the following: Transmogrify (2004), Bayou Tapestry (2011), Bourbon St to Brunswick St (2015), and The Bowie Project (2015), Melbourneapolis (by Lake Minnetonka) an original score to the Cinema Viscera feature film Trench, and The Bowie Project 2: It’s Always Time. In 2020, Adam completed four albums and the soundtrack to the local independent feature film Apparitions.
Mama Boho is the sobriquet of Janelle Da Silva. Janelle has been in the professional arts and entertainment industry for twenty years. Cutting her teeth at the ABC as a co-host of the live music television show Recovery, Janelle went on to acting & presenting on Channel 9, 10, the BBC & hosting live arts events. After studying Acting at the National Theatre in St. Kilda she continued onto a graduate diploma in Experiential & Creative Arts Therapy. This was her introduction into performance art. Branching into spoken word poetry, Janelle began featuring at independent arts events and festivals. From here she devised, Birthing The Mother, a six-week body-centred program for people who identify as women, that offers uncensored storytelling and improvised performance. Proudly a queer, intersectional feminist and a fiercely autonomous creative, Janelle is a passionate advocate for social change through the arts.
Ferri Maya, is a multi-award-winning performer, internationally known as the goddess of Rock ’N’ Roll Burlesque. Ferri is Miss Burlesque Melbourne, Miss Burlesque Australia, Most Innovative and New York Golden Pastie winner for The Wild Child. Ferri has been teaching and mentoring through Bottoms Up Dance in Melbourne and Sky Sirens in Sydney. Ferri has her unique brand of burlesque, Burlyrock. Where she teachers the elements of traditional tease and timing to rock ’n’ roll. Ferri Maya breaks all the rules, and she will make sure you enjoy the ride.
