A Very Optimistic Newsletter

In line with the current government restrictions, POME shut up shop temporarily last Friday afternoon and with any hope, we will reopen our doors on Thursday 18th of February with a triple threat night.

'Latest Works' and 'Bush Ballads' Artist Q&As with current exhibiting artists Alexia Novella & Em Jensen with special guest Ben Mastwyk, soul/funk duo and power couple Suneden, followed by Sleeze with Daddy Doe Ft. Melbourne burlesque powerhouse Carletta the Great & Mr Boylesque Australia winner 2019 Trey Frenchie, have all been rescheduled for Thursday evening for a best case scenario announcement from the Victorian government. And because showcasing diverse art is at our very core, we thought why the hell not? Though it doesn't stop there.

Friday the 19th of February we have the amazing Van Walker. His latest solo album, Ghosting, has been topping many Best Of polls for 2020, including 2nd position on Rhythms Best Australian Albums for 2020 Readers Poll.

On Saturday the 20th we have a double bill: Melbourne's alt-country sweetheart Brooke Russell followed by Sorcha Albuquerque Trio. Brooke is a late-night jazz, croon-and-swoon slowcore, alt-country and heartache country-soul blend together performer, on this intoxicating collection of songs that recall late-period Dylan, The Delines and Lucinda Williams. Sorcha Albuquerque is a guitarist and Australian jazz heavyweight, having been featured on many 'Best Of' Australian Jazz compilations. Her trio will be playing a mix of groove/soul-jazz standards and a selection of original compositions.

After a year's hiatus (thanks to the global pandemic), Kimba & Ryan reemerge with a repertoire of songs honed and finely tuned during lockdown and ready to play on Sunday afternoon. Their defining sound is a light touch of fingers on strings, Ryan's masterful rendering of melody and bass together with Kimba's warm tone and heart rendering presence. Georgia State Line & Patrick Wilson will then take the stage in the evening. After packing up their lives, moving into a van and onto the road in 2018, Georgia Delves (Georgia State Line) and Patrick Wilson have toured extensively together across the country, carving out their names within the Australian music scene. Collectively they have supported Justin Townes Earle (USA), Eilen Jewell (USA), The Bellamy Brothers (USA), with each eagerly approaching the release of new music in 2021.

It is with a great deal of optimism that we announce all of this, but even in the worst case scenario, all cancelled events will be rescheduled to the best of our ability! We will continue to update you as the situation permits. Note that Life Drawing Hosted by Bella de Jac will not be taking place in March but will resume in April.

Stay safe and healthy Melbourne, we will see you soon!
